I'm writing some classes for another site on Wicca. I thought I'd post them on this blog too in the interests of sharing information in the ULC.
These classes do not represent the beliefs af all Wiccans. Bear in mind that there are many traditions bound together under the umbrella term Wicca, just as there are many denominations groupd under the term Christianity. Some Wiccans will find some of my concepts here as alien as some Baptists would find some Catholic concepts...

Merry Meet All -
Here goes the first installment...
Learning about something isn't done all at once, understanding is a process, not an end. This is illustrated in arts, sciences and crafts repeatedly. There is the apprentice's understanding of a phenomena or process, the journeyman's deeper understanding, a master's understanding and then even deeper levels as the master continues to learn.
To illustrate these levels of meaning in this set of classes, I'm going to put forth the "Basic Law", first in the words learned by the apprentice:
"Everything exists and is connected."
And then in what I think of as the first master's level description of the same law.
"Given infinite time and space, the odds are infinity squared to one that any thing which can be conceived does exist. Furthermore, all things are interrelated, causing the resulting squared infinity of realities to be in a constant state of change do to inter-reaction. These realities are in various states of harmony, ranging from those which can peacefully coexist to those which are mutually exclusive.
The way in which order is supported throughout existence is by way of the time-space continuum. This means that each moment (location in space a particular instant of time) contains a reality which is related to other moments (times and locations) in varying amounts of probability.
Each Being's actions at each moment strengthens certain of these probabilities, and guides cumulative existence along the continuum to another reality.
The connections between these time-spaces can be shown as a fluid lattice, actions and perceptions as lines that connect points which are the moments which result from those actions. Closer examination of this model shows that both the 'past' and the 'future' are constantly changing, and the only immutable time is now."
Sound like Zen teachings yet? The paths which lead to these understandings are myriad. We're going to explore some "paranormal" paths here in the weeks ahead. I will define terms in order to keep us all looking in the same direction, but will steer away from trying to define the concepts in favor of describing them. This is to hopefully stimulate your own imaginations in finding levels of meanings to the concepts all your own. A definition is not so fluid a thing as a description.
This first week, just think about this "Basic Law" and "Levels of Meaning". When you have a fit of inspiration about either or both of them, post it here so we can all share your insight. Don't feel limited to just one post either, it's a discussion topic, feel free to chime in at any time. With any luck, we'll all be able to gain new levels of understanding.
Blessed Be
Tom
