Safety First

  • ( I wanted to share this with ULC members as well for tips incase of emergancies ) Please take note: pack a bag with change of clothes, ( make sure the change of clothes includes pants to cover legs in case of debris blocking your escape) birth certifies , social security cards, insurance info, small amount of cash and or bank card ,emergency kit, extra phone charger , flashlights, small battery operated radio , extra batteries, rain poncho, a knife, couple of bottles a water , power bars if you do not have power bars a jar of peanut butter will be a good source of protean and will last awhile. Pack a bag for each family member in this manner. A child's bag should contain a fav toy or stuffed animal. For those that have pets and will be taking them with you a small bag packed with two bowls, at least two bottles of water , baggies of animal food enough to last for a couple of days, and a fav toy. If a pet is hurt your emergency kit should cover the needs of your pet until help arrives. This is your safety bag don't be caught without it. For those parents that are working make plans for the safety of your children , this includes knowing the closest safe area incase of bad weather, contacts , safe area to meet up afterwards. At least two routes to take incase you need to reach your child/children. This also should be a good practice for those that care for your children to be ready, take note make sure your child's bag is with your child and instruct the caregiver of what the bag is for. It would be a good idea to write your contact info and any medical conditions your child may have and tuck it in their bag in a water proof baggy, old school backpacks are idea to use for survival bags. Check on your neighbors and help them create a safe plan. Material things can be replaced but you and loved ones can not, be ready , be safe, and know my prayers are with you !
