When is the last time you sat down to write someone a letter? No, I do not mean an email, or a 'business' email to communicate for some reason. Truly, to sit down and write a letter to a family member or a friend, even an acquaintance whom you would like to spend more time getting to know but just haven't taken the time.
How many times do you make a trek to the mailbox, only to find it contains bills and 'junk' mail. As you pour through it wishing that sometimes you received something other than bills and 'junk.' When was the last time you gave someone that pleasure in order to receive it in return? Remember Galations 7-9 “we reap what we sow...' This is further voiced in Chinese saying, "If a man plants melons he will reap melons; if he sows beans, if a man plants beans, he will reap beans." Are you reaping what you sow? Are you sowing what you wish to reap in your life?
Nearly every day, my mail box 'runs over' with letters. Personal letter far outweighing the bills and junk mail! As I thumb through the mail received, it brings me great smile and joy to read all those who have chosen to bless with me with their words on this day! Conversely, I spend time each day writing, reaching out, to those who return my letters. I reap what I sow, I know when I go to my mail box and retrieve the numerous letters addressed to me from family, friends and acquaintances waiting to become friends. I highly encourage you to do the same and share in the joy and smiles as I do and to share them with others.
Just as we begrudgingly go to our gardens, or yards, to weed and hoe knowing that in the end we will enjoy the fruits of our labors. Turn off the influences of the world which distract you, and keep you from 'sowing' the things you truly desire in your life, rather than wasting time and begrudgingly spending time on the activities that reap weeds in your life.
You might be surprised how much you learn and teach, in the exchanging of letters. Even more so what you gain from it, but even greater is what you give someone!
