The forgotten

  • There are over 2.2 million people incarcerated in the United States alone.  Chances are that someone close to you or that your know is one of them.  In the United States, one in four people are estimated to 'do time' at some point, for some crime.  Often times these are non-violent crimes, drug abuse, driving without a license, etc.  Sadly, once someone goes to jail or prison, they are forgotten by society, family, friends, etc. and they are made to feel like sub-humans in many regards.  Hundreds of these inmates receive little or no mail to permit them communication with the outside, to know there is a 'world' and that they are not forgotten.

All too often, in the free world, people are prone to ask what they get with little or no regards to what they give to receive.  I am asking others to 'do' their part and let others know they are not alone in the world but adding as many inmates to their Seasons Greetings (Christmas) mailing list they they can.

If you are interested, please email me revkevmo@gmail.com for a list of prisoner's addresses.

    Matthew 25:35-46

35 For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, 36 I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ 37 Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? 38 And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? 39 And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ 40 And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, [1] you did it to me.’

41 “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42 For I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not visit me.’ 44 Then they also will answer, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to you?’ 45 Then he will answer them, saying, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.’ 46 And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”

    Thank you humbly,

Rev. Dr. Dean And Rev. Barbara Rose It is sad that the USA has more people in prison than any other civilized country in the world. It says something is wrong with our justice system. It is also sad that once a person goes to jail, does their time, and comes out to find they will be paying ...  more

Kevin Johnson Thank you Dr. Dean - another thing that is sad is the lack of programs for inmate in prison to help 'rehab' them or the total lack of rehab for admitted drug addicts who 'beg' for rehab to help 'clean' up - the answer? Put them in prison for 10 or 15 yea...  more
