I started a petition today through change.org to have the fed's mandate that the states stop cutting funding for our childen. With the economy going down the tubes and many people loosing their insurance, even state funded, or partially state funded non-profit groups are closing their doors to our children and our children have nothing. Unless you live in a card board box under a bridge , noone gets any help!.
After spending two days going through the pages and pages of "resources" for my daughter to get mental health, I was shot down from every organization. Either they wanted me to pay hundreds of dollars we don't have or have "access" which is the "state medical program". We ecceed the income requirements yet can't afford insurance. So they have another state funded program for kids to get medical. They have stopped taking applicants over a year ago and the state will be dropping several kids already in the program. Persoanlly, I'm getting really fed up with all of this. People giving everyone the run around yet noone can help. Yet Our president's wife pushes for healthy eating and preventative care, yet many lower-middle class people can't even get this for their children because they have no insurance or can't afford it, or don't qualify. Though I believe everyone needs it, it's only going to create problems and more debt in the future as our children grow and get sick because they were denied "preventative care". I think my next one will also be for those who are retired and elderly. I know this goes under medi-care and this would be an even bigger battle,lol, so I think I'll start with our youth :)
Basically, I'm fed up with this. Our country should be taking care of their people, especially our children and elderly. So, instead of letting this irritation get the best of my, I have decided to channel it in a hopefully more productive manner and started a petition to the federal governement to not allow states to stop or cut funding in this area.
I don't expect everyone to support this and that is ok, but if you do support this I'm including a link to where you can sign it. My goal is to get 5,000 signitures and go from there.
