We are the animal that wonders, imagines, dreams and we react. Aristotle would say that there is a hierarchy of being: from mineral to God. He bases it on consciousness. the plant is more aware than the earth the animal more aware than the plant the human more aware than the animal the angel more aware than the human and God is the ultimate awareness. I would agree that we react instinctively it is our nature. It is also our nature contemplate our reaction and even through reflection change. Animal, yes but with a spark of the divine. less
