"I want to know if you can see beauty, even when it's not pretty, everyday, and if you can source your own life from it's presence,"
A line from "the Invitation" by Oriah Mountain Dreamer. Do we often take the simple everyday things for granted? Can you see beauty in a blade of grass, or the sun glistening on the water, a hawk gliding overhead, calling to it's mate. The Navaho have a prayer:
May I walk with beauty before me
May I walk with beauty behind me
May I walk with beauty above me
May I walk with beauty below me
May I walk with beauty all around me
As I walk in beauty way...
But what is this beauty the Navaho speak of, is it physical beauty, perhaps, but I like to think it goes much deeper than that. It is the deep spirit that beckons our soul to smile at the sight of a glorious sunset, or a million sparkling stars in the midnight sky. But it is also looking at your parents, your partner, in the perhaps worn out shell, and still seeing the beauty within. Is there a seperation between the physical and the spiritual, can you see past the shell to the soul, the true spirit? Can you see beauty, when it's not pretty, everyday? Will you take the time today to uncover the "truth", the true spirit, or will you just look at the shell, and walk on? Be grateful for the everyday joy and beauty in our lives. Ending with one of my poems..enjoy your day ;-)
SIMPLE THINGS
The sun like a sparkling jewel
Peeking through the trees
The wonder of God’s beauty
Always amazes me
To be thankful for
The simple things
The ones often taken for granted
Some people never notice
Maybe why their view’s so slanted
