In Memory of...
On this date; April 10, 1991; My Sister Denise, my Brother Kristopher and I lost our Father due to complication from Liver Cancer. Our Father, Weldon Warren Wheeler was 68 years old at the time.
Weldon Warren Wheeler was born to Carl Ezna Wheeler and Edna Ruschmeyer Wheeler on November 12, 1923 in Griggsville, Illinois. He served during World War 2 stateside repairing planes from the Army Air Corps returning from the European Theater. After WW2, he joined the Army Corps of Engineers. During this time, he was stationed at Ft. Sheridan, Illinois, Joliet Army Ammunition Plant in Joliet, Illinois, worked at the Chatfield Dam Recreational Project in Littleton, Colorado, Stationed in Riverside, North Dakota and at KKMC, Saudi Arabia as his final posting. He retired in 1985, after 38 years of service. He was extremely smart and motivated. He was mainly a Self-taught man. He did a lot of mail order courses, and got certifications from them.
He retired to Woodbury, Tennessee where he bought a 30 acre farm with a pole barn and a newer single level ranch house. He was happy there. At about 3am on April 10, 1991 I recieved a call from my stepmother saying that my Dad had passed after 3 days in the hospital. Unfortunately, I barley knew the man. He seperated and divorced my mother in 1968 when I was only 5 years old. I did get to spend my summers at his house, but he worked a lot. My Sister and Brother have better memories of him that I do. I do miss him, and wish that I could have gotten to know him better.
May the Supreme Being in whichever aspect he, she or it is currently in Bless, Protect and Cherish the Spirit and Soul of my Father, Weldon Warren Wheeler, and let him know that I will be along sometime in the future when the Supreme Being calls. Then we can do all the Father/Son things that we never had time for in this earthly existence. I do Love him, even if it was as hard for him to express it as it is for me.
