Today while teaching a class at the Church Seminary, I was asked a very broad but legitimate question by one of the training Pastors. He asked, "What in your opinion makes for study for a student to come away with a well rounded and complete education?" I answered, a true student never stops his or her education, EVER, but if you are asking for specifics I stated the following, a true student should master these subjects, Angels, Ancient History, Animals, Aristocracy, Astrophysics, Art, Astronomy, Beauty, Being, The Bible, Biology (Human, Animal, Plant, Marine), Capitalism, Cause, Carpentry, Chance, Change, Citizen, Citizenship, Cooking, Constitution, Courage, Custom and Convention, Definition, Democracy, Desire, Dialectic, Duty, Ecology, Education, Element, Emotion, Eternity, Evolution, Experience, Family, Farming, Fate, First Aid, Form, Freedom, Gardening, God, Good and Evil, Government, Grammar, Habit, Happiness, History, Honor, Horticulture, Hypothesis, Idea, Immortality, Induction, Infinity, Judgment, Justice, Knowledge, Labor, Language, Law, Liberty, Life and Death, All of The Great Literary Works, Literature, Logic, and Love, Man, Mathematics, Matter, Mechanics, Medicine, Memory and Imagination, Metaphysics, Mind, Monarchy, Nature, Necessity and Contingency, Oligarchy, One and Many, Opinion, Opposition, Philosophy, Physics, Pleasure and Pain, Poetry, Principle, Progress, Prophecy, Prudence, Psychology, Punishment, Quality, Quantity, Reasoning, Relation, Religion, Revolution, Rhetoric, Same and Other, Science, Sense, Sewing, Sign and Symbol, Sin, Slavery, Soul, Space, State, Temperance, Theology, Time, Truth, Tyranny and Despotism, Universal and Particular, Virtue and Vice, War and Peace, Wealth, Will, Wisdom, World, World History, and of course how to make a great cup of Coffee and everything ever written by Martha Stewart; then you will have a well rounded education. I then stated, and those subjects are only the very tip of the iceburg as to what is out there to study for a well rounded education.
