empty churches

  • Recently the church that I attend; and I use ATTEND because I am NOT a member of the Church,  has voted agaist making it acceptable for practicing homosexuals to be members or members of the clergy for thier church.  Let me add that this Church is a United Methodist Church.  And the only reason that I go there is to be a part of the community as we worship the Lord.

There has been some questioning as to our Minister that leads the church as to if she is a Lesbian or not.  I ask you,  what difference does it make?  If you believe in the Lord and Worship the Lord.  Who cares about the sexual preference that you have.

We live in a very small community where there is only about 1500 people who live in our town.  And our church community is only about 25 people, who regularly attend church.  Half of which are in the Choir.  Including me.

What really needs to happen is the congregation needs to look both to the left and to the right and ask themselves why the pews of the church are empty.  When was the last time they invited someone into the church,  without speculation on whether they are a homosexual or not.  They need to show the Love of Christ.

When Jesus walked the earth and taught to the people the love of christ,  he taught to the individuals who were the less than desireable.  The beggars, homeless, theives, tax collectors, and the men and women who traded sex for money.  When he ate dinner, he at with those people.  The Christians,  the ones who were already saved, didn't need him.  It was the vagrants who needed Him.  Jesus never pushed anyone aside.  As long as they believed,  they were his people.

John 3: 16 States,  For God so loved the world, that He gave His ONLY Son, for Whosoever belived in Him, Should not perish but have ever lasting life.  I ask you,  does that not apply to everyone.  Or just those who are already saved and live up to your standards?  Each and every person should be welcome in the House of the Lord.  Each of us Sin and fall short of the Glory of God.  There is not one of us perfect.  And there is not levels of sin.  A sin is a Sin is a SIN!  Do not judge a book by it's cover.  Just because a person loves another individual of the same sex does not make them a bad person.  They could have the heart of gold.  But because of self prejudice, many people have pused away some of the most beautiful people from God.  Because of the way they were treated at Church.

This is why those pews are empty.  Because one or two of the members of the Church were raised that Homosexuals were deviants and bad people.  That is far from the truth.  God doesn't throw away one of His children just because they love the same sex.

The other day I saw a bumper sticker that said "If the fetus that you saved grows up to be a homosexual, will you still fight for its rights?"  That made me think about Christian living.  Christians are supposed to fight for God's people.  But if it is one of your children,  wouldn't you want them to be accepted in Church and by God.  So that you may see them in Heaven.

So before you cast away that person that is up in front of you teaching you God's words.  Remember that you yourself have a thorn in your own eye.  Stand in front of a mirror and take a good long look at your life and see if you sin or not.  Guaranteed that you do!

    God Bless you!

Rev. Victor Jay Davidson Sandra Palmer.... I thought about that ... but if we all run away just because of someone's inability to look past what they think is a sin.... then the churches would be completely empty.

Rev. Bobby Crow Feather I would not normally advocate for a walk out. I generally advise against it because we may find the need for a few of the words and just the fellowship sometimes. But, I can recall an assignment I received early on when I was being assigned directly by th...  more

Rev. Bobby Crow Feather Also, a church is supported by it's parishioners. Sometimes empty coffers and pews are a sign that their is a need and cause for change.
