Then Elihu said, "Hear my words, you wise men. Listen to me, you who know. For the ear tests words as the mouth tastes food. Let us choose for ourselves what is right. Let us know among ourselves what is good. For Job has said, "I am right and good, but God has taken away my right. Would I lie about my right? I have been hurt so that I cannot be healed, but I have done no wrong." What man is like Job, who drinks up words against him like water? He goes among those who do wrong, and walks with sinful men. For he has said, A man gets nothing by trying to please God. So listen to me, you men of understanding. Far be it from God to do what is sinful, and from the All powerful to do wrong. For He pays a man by the work what he does. For sure God will not do wrong. The All-powerful will not turn what is right into sin. Who gave Him the power over the earth? Who gave Him the whole world to take care of? If He should take back His spirit and His breath, all flesh would die together, and man would return to dust.
(New Life Bible, Job 34: 1-16)
I love this book especially this chapter because we as a culture have to be like students, examining the scriptures. If you keep reading, the "God, I am" Creator of all creatures, comes into chatting with Job in chapter 38, let me caption some of these verses to go into reflection on this some.
Then the Lord answered Job out of the strong wind and said, "Who is this that makes words of wisdom dark by speaking without much learning? Now get ready like a man, and I will ask you some questions and you answer me. Where were you when I began building the earth? Tell me, if you have understanding. Who decided how big it was to be, since you know? Who looked to see if it was a big as it should be? Whata was it built upon? Who laid its first stone, when the morning stars sang together and all the sons of God called out for joy? ...
(New Life Bible, Job 38: 1-16)
In the presence of God, we are just dust. Without his breath we are dead bodies, as some would use like Isaiah, Ezekiel and Daniel, just clay in the potters hands. The prophets knew God because they sat in visions listening to his word. What is his word? How can you tell the difference between the Creator and the creation? It is obvious we are left to our own thoughts, and we are lost with what is the future. It is in my heart, mind and spirit, that some light will be shed on the power of God within us all. It is the breath of God that we live therefore, what is the understanding of that breath. I enjoy using the woman as an illustration. It is a woman who births a child, but in that process she know without that strength and courage to be faithful that child cannot be born. No matter how much that child rejects her within her life time, and even claim governor over her, she is within complete strength knowing that child was born from her.
It is in my hope that those who are not able to hear or know the Creator. The higher being that created them as life giver would seek answers. As a student seek truth, for truth lives in you. The breath of life that is in you is the ultimate witness that you were born of God. Safe journeys use your life for serving others as the Samaritan, give generously, for we are created by God.
As a culture, we just scratch the surface of who we are. As biological creatures we only study half of us. We have not even touched the surface of the breath in us. The eternal side of us is still hidden. Some of us are mixed cultures and do not even know it. Though we carry only one shade color, the DNA speaks multitude of cultures living in us. As so, God lives in us because we breathe. It is an amazing truth to begin a journey as a God made child. Love living, and be faithful.
