At no point does the New testament say that Mathew.. a Tax collector for the Roman Government.. quit doing his job. sure he left his table but later references suggest that Mathew was still doing his job. Christ was called a friend to Tax Collectors .. note the lack of the word "former".
How can this be? Well.. render unto Caesar what is Caesar's
But wouldn't God be angry with what Caesar's Rome did with those taxes...
Sure, but guess who that falls on? Caesar!
You are accountable, if you are a believer, only for your OWN sin... God's love is not so shallow that the actions of OTHERS would cause God to love you less.
Now that's not so say one should not speak out against sin, far from it.. but do so out of love for your neighbor.. not fear that God's love is any less than God has promised!
Far too often today I see Christians who somehow believe in a less Loving God, that fear is exactly what feeds hate groups like WBC. It's time that stopped.
