Matters of Faith

  •     I do not personally believe that any Christian would disagree with the validity of the Torah.

I also would agree that there are those fundamentalist who use their beliefs and prejudices to impose their will on others, just as the Pharisees used  their interpretation of the law to hunt, jail, torture, and kill Christians, with no respect for those of other faith tradition.

These terrible acts have been committed by Jew and Christian alike, as well as other faiths and I believe these actions to be the actions of men not God.

I find it very difficult to believe that you will be able to over come your first spiritual problem listed with Christians when they can go to the old testament and read JOEL 2:28 or the new testament and read ACTS 2:17. You must remember that these are matters of faith and there are those who believe just as strongly as you do about theirs.

The second problem that you list is translation. You are correct, just as there are no English translations of the Torah that are 100% correct. This is true of almost any language and of any book. There are words in all languages that have more than one meaning based on the content in which they are used as well as words that have no translation into the language that its being translated. i.e. the German slang for please has now become please and thank you, depending on the content in which it is used.

As to the things you list as contradictions or that need further explanation, these are matters of personal interpretation and matters that the modern Christian leaves to study, prayer and what many of us believe is guidance from the holy spirit .

I understand that you may not except the Christian scriptures, I  believe that is your right, even if it disagrees with my faith, but I tend to think of the scripture found in LUKE 17:34 when it comes to matters of faith and for that reason I'm always searching.

                                                                                        Just an old preachers opinion
