The Time Has Come! I Wished!
It would seem that the retired Bishop John Selby Sprong and I can agree on one point, "Ignorance does abound" and it would seem so on both sides of this issue. He opens his so called "Manifesto" with the same closed minded attitude towards those who except the Greek and English interpretation of the subject as those he is so determined to condemn for their closed minded attitude towards his opinion.
Whether someone is homosexual or heterosexual is a personal thing and not for us as ministers or even Bishops to sit in judgment of. How one lives their life is between them and their creator, and when it comes down to it none of anyone Else's business.
I witnessed a friend of mine endure the ridicule of a gay couple in public for twenty minutes after expressing his disdain for their hanging all over each other in the mall, it brought my friend to tears. Those engaging in the verbal assault never realized that my friend himself has been an open gay since we were kids in high school. He is not against gays, he is against that type of public display even when it is a heterosexual couple.
This type of radical, non rational behavior exist on both sides of this issue, and many others as well. We as Christian leaders need to learn to welcome those from all walks of life for who and what we all are and leave the judgment for the creator, we need to stop mixing issues together as if it will help justify a point we are trying to make and learn to accept each other for what we are, to accept the fact that we all have an equal right to live our lives as we see fit, which includes the right to disagree with one another.
I'll end this opinion with one verse of scripture KJV Mat: 7:3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
So if your straight or gay, purple or green, even happy or sad, all should be welcome in God's house and by his children, even when we disagree.
