What a subject !!!
We have a responsibility to keep the fox out of the hen house, however we also bare the responsibility to make darn sure the fox is really a fox, before we shoot the fox.
In my ministry I have seen 12 and 13 years old, that were sex ting pics on their phones of their boyfriend or girlfriend, boys and girls who had dated all thru school, even lived in one of the parents home, but one just happened to turn 18 when the other was still 16. All of the above were branded Registered Sex Offenders for LIFE!
I do not condone their behavior by any means, however I do believe that that some commonsense is in order.
Every year more and more prisoners are released after their lives have been destroyed due to wrongful convictions. Texas is even investigating the large number of wrongful convicts within its state. Many of these convictions in this country have been due to suppression of evidence by prosecutors and police, of which those responsible for destroying those lives are never held accountable.
News reports half truths and rarely gets the stories correct because they report what their told by the authority and they need, to in their words;"make it news worthy"
I'm not some bleeding heart liberal, if a person is guilty, then let the chips fall. However I do believe in our society we too often times judge before we know what we are talking about and if we are going to brand someone we should be sure that the brand fits the crime.
I've been told by friends that the above mentioned happens in a small percentage of cases, so its not that important. I contend that may be correct, till it happens to you!
The point I'm trying to make is that we have a responsibility to make sure the fox is a fox, as well as to protect the hens.
