I opened my eyes to the twinkling of the morning light
Dreams I’d been having slip silently out of sight.
The wind is calling me and singing a beckoning song.
“Come to the bay...♪♪♪…” the tide is pulling strong.
Today is a time that comes but once a year.
A day on the bay overflowing with cheer.
Butterflies on the water have sails of red and blue.
Kayaks and rowboats; yachts and canoes.
Drop what you may be doing and get out of your door.
Pack a lunch of cupcakes and head out to the shore.
Cheer them on while watching a wonderful parade.
It’s a perfect day for a picnic and a glass of lemonade.
On this Saturday in April the sun is shinning bright.
The day is full of promises that were only dreams last night.
So let me tell you once again, while I head out on my way.
That today is a very special one. Today is Opening Day!~Jay Olson
