WE HONOR THE RIGHT TO CHOOSE LIFE COMPANIONS AS A GOD-GIVEN RIGHT
Dear President Obama:
You are the product of an interracial marriage which is still considered to be illegal and immoral by many Christians and many Americans today. If you believe that you are the POSITIVE OUTCOME of a non-traditional union then why can you not understand that other positive outcomes are very possible in non-traditional unions such as same gender unions which have existed for thousands of years. All companion unions should never be allowed to be arranged by someone else in a land which proclaims the "pursuit of happiness" as an unalienable right. To tell anyone in our country whom they should marry is to deny that GOD himself has created desire for intimacy in ALL our hearts. The problem with humans is that we like to play GOD and tell people whom they should marry and whom they should associate with. America should "allow" same gender marriages. I say gender because there is much more to companionship than "sex". That's just the icing on the cake. Who are you and who am I to not forever hold our peace? Who am I to say that my calling to intimacy with a partner is someone else's calling? I did not ask others to marry interracially. I am not asking anyone to tolerate my marriage. I am asking them to accept themselves for who they are and to accept me for who I am by birth AND by choice. I am not in a stage of rebellion as I often hear others say. I am in a state where I made vows and lifetime promises before GOD and witnesses which I said I would keep from my date of marriage day forward until death do us part. MAY OTHERS FOREVER HOLD THEIR PEACE. What GOD has CREATED let no one keep apart or put asunder.
I LOVE YOU ALL AND WISH EVERY AMERICAN AND ALL WORLD CITIZENS A LIFETIME OF HAPPINESS WITH THE COMPANIONSHIP OF ANYONE YOU MIGHT CHOOSE.
President Obama--would it not be wonderful if you could acknowledge your complete heritage without fear of rejection? You know our pain as well as you knew your parents pain and suffering. I implore you to put this horrible injustice behind us so that we may embrace our loved ones without fear of separation, harrassment and judgement.
In the Spirit of Peace with Justice,
MOTHER NANHI
