OUR FAMILY is multiracial, multilingual and multicultural. ON OCTOBER 12 WE CELEBRATE:
EL DIA DE LA RAZA NUEVA.
We know that it is possible to synthesize all contributions that each culture has to offer in the human family without being destructive. HERE'S TO CELEBRATING ALL PEOPLE and the reclaiming of EVERYONE'S HERITAGE. We are all CHILDREN OF THE SAME UNIVERSE. In Mexico, October 12th is a national holiday known as EL Día de la Raza Nueva (The Day of the New Race). This date is honored in other countries as Columbus Day and under other names. In 1918, philosopher Antonio Caso took October 12th as an opportunity to praise the "Mexican mestizo race", La Raza Nueva, the rich mixture of Spanish and indigenous cultures which characterizes us. He was perhaps the first to coin the term La Raza, which has now been adopted by Latinos from all across the continent. Ten years later, the Día de la Raza Nueva was declared an official national holiday by the Mexican Congress to celebrate the synthesis of Indian, European and African cultures.
THANK YOU FOR RESPECTING OUR LOVE FOR OUR COMBINED HERITAGE SO THAT WE MAY TRULY HONOR ALL OUR MOTHERS AND ALL OUR FATHERS.
