Thou Shalt Kill?

  • Her name is Mary.  She killed her husband.  Her husband was a preacher.  She says he abused her for years and she just had enough.  She served time in prison and recently made a statement to other women in her position pleading with them to seek help before resorting to such drastic measures.  She was satisfied, she claims that the jury made the decision they made to send her to prison.  She eventually was released and has regained custody of her children.  And yet, a question lingers for most of us.  Was she acting in self-defense?  Was it easy to get help?  What barriers did she face?  Why do many men and women who are being abused not seek help?  And the final question, asked with a great deal of sadness, why a preacher's wife?  That hits home for all of us.  What are your thoughts?  The link to the full story is printed below:

Deleted Member ABUSE happens to men also and is even more less likely to be reported. Keeping our ears to the ground and being open to those who find themselves in abusive relationships could be an important but tricky arena. MNM

The Rt. Rev. Mark Luljak Oh, man...where to start? I saw this case when she was arrested and tried. I didn't know she'd gotten out, though. She -shouldn't- have. Nor should she have custody of her kids back, IMHO.

    Okay, let's start with this:
