THERE WERE 3 WOMEN AND ONE GUY in our household. We women constantly complained to Father Leslie about leaving the toilet seat UP. How dare he? The majority were female. Why would he leave the lid up when he was finished? WE had one bathroom in the house and it was coed. So why not appease the majority?
ONE DAY I sat the family down and for our homeschool lesson we talked about how groups make decisions. AS an example I decided to risk bringing up the SACRED SEAT issue. By the time we were finished discussing the pros and cons of POSITIONS for the seat and lid of a JOHN it all seemed superfluous and ridiculous.
WE CAME TO A DECISION...WIN-WIN. Would we decide by majority rules or concensus? The concensus option appeared to present something everyone could live with.
WHEN YOU ENTER THE BATHROOM...be observant. If the lid is up and you need it down...PUT IT DOWN. If the lid is down and you need it up...PUT IT UP.
What everyone needs they do themselves. No one waits on anyone. No one caters to the other. Everyone respects the other's legitimate needs.
WONDER IF THAT WOULD WORK HERE AT ULCM? Hmmmm....
