MISSION SURVIVAL

  • MISSION SURVIVAL or USE WHAT YOU HAVE. Today began with a few challenges. It's still cloudy with MORE rain in the forecast and predictions of passing the all time record for amount of rainfall in a year in Philadelphia PA.

The landlord is coming soon to fix the plaster in the south bedroom for the third time. There were roofing problems brought on by a combination of earthquake, hurricanes and of course, the rain. On top of that Pop Leslie was not having a good sight day at all. In the process of dressing for work at the office he couldn't find some things, he dropped some things, broke something and thought that walking out without breakfast would solve it all. In the end he calmed down, ate his grits and drank his coffee. In the end I have less time than is comfortable to get ready for the arrival of the landlord.

On mornings like these I take a deep breath and remember a board game we used to play with the kids when they were growing up called MISSION SURVIVAL. You roll the dice and found out what environment you are starting in. Then you pick a card and find out what survival tools you have. As an individual or as a team you then use what you have AND have 5 minutes to figure out how you will survive based ONLY on what you have. These days they call it "reality TV". IN THE REAL EVERYDAY world there is no board game to pack up or walk away from if you don't feel like playing any more. The tools we have to work with in this economy where everyone's nerves are already frayed are limited.

THE MISSION IS SURVIVAL. USE WHAT YOU HAVE and remember to BRING HARM TO NO ONE.

Bishop Michael Collins-Windsor, Ph.D. Let hubby know, "a day without eating your grits is a day without sunshine." My grits are more valued than my Amex card, I don't leave home without eating them. LOL
