Creosotes Magical Properties

  • Many creosote bushes populate the desert in Arizona and put off a much loved scent…rain. When burned it creates an antibacterial affect and holds that fantastic rain smell. Native Indians used creosote for ritual purposes and to cleanse the air.

Creosote is used in many of my daily rituals. Its used as a replacement for sage smudging and can be found burning over coals in my alter cast,it is used as a request for protection and as an offering for life. Creosote can be made into wonderful oils and used in oil diffusers and in herbal salves and remedies.

Various sources report that teas made from the leaves and small twigs cure of fever, influenza, colds, upset stomach, gas, gout, arthritis, and sinusitis, anemia, and fungus infections.

Creosote is also said to have antimicrobial properties, making it a useful first aid antiseptic. It is also said to be beneficial in the treatment of allergies, autoimmune diseases, and Premenstrual Syndrome. Creosote may serve as an analgesic, antidiarrheal, diuretic, and emetic. Creosote can be used on the skin as a tincture or salve
