I have been in the hospital the last two weeks, and I just got home today. I meant some really nice people in the hospital. One very confused elderly lady with either dementia or alzheimers talked to me about how she knew she was ill and had difficulties sometimes. She felt like everyone, especially those close to her tend to ignore her during those times and said that it really hurt her feelings. She said everybody needs to be treated like they are somebody. This woman's mind may have been confused, but her warm heart is as brilliant as ever. I also saw patients helping other patients. I saw kindness, generousity, patience, and genuine concern for one another. I may not have wanted to be in the hospital, but I am glad I did not miss this experience.
