I'm going to start off by saying that I am a Christian. But I've also come to realize that I agree with many Buddhist teachings as well. The Second Noble Truth states that want (and/or greed) is a true cause of suffering. It's basically saying that this greed obtains a snowball effect, making it impossible to ever feel fulfilled. So in a nutshell, do not want. Be content. This should sound familiar to Christians.
The Second Noble Truth also states that a cause of suffering is ignorance, or the inability to see the truth about things. Our cravings and greed stem from this ignorance, and keep us from growing as people.
What I'm saying is that we shouldn't be wondering what's in it for us. We need to realize that we have been blessed and have it so much better than many people. So when it comes tax time, it's understandable to be a little upset, but at least try to understand why these taxes are there and how many people you're helping in the process.
