Fall is my favorite time of year. I like the cooler weather, children are still in school, new tv shows, and best of all for me is Thanksgiving. It seems to me that people like to go from Halloween straight to Christmas, they just skip right over Thanksgiving. I am assuming because there really isn't anything assocated with Thanksgiving itself for the media to grab on to, other then football and a big parade. Those two things really don't say Thankgiving to me. Then for retail they don't have much to assocaite with it so they focus on the day AFTER, which is all about gorging yourself on all things retail to start your holiday shopping season.
My work history has consisted of jobs that required me to work on Thanksgiving, which I personally enjoyed since I didn't have family near by. I found myself grateful for the extra money I made. Recently I haven't had to work so I am grateful for the invitations I recieve from coworkers who allow me to be a part of their family for the holiday. When I do make it to be with family, even though there tends to be an argument at some point I am still grateful for the time together.
The name of the holiday says it all THANKSGIVING. Tis the season to be thankful, to be filled with gratitude. There shouldn't be a season of gratitude or even a holiday. There should be non stop gratitude.Take the frown and turn it upside down. Find a way to have gratitude for that flat tire (it happened in a safe place off of the highway) Your spilt coffee (you didn't get burned) or any other mishap. Those are the times I really need to focus on the gratitude and to practice thanksgiving. Its easy to do in the good times, we sometimes forget to be gracious of the good that Spirit has experienced though us. Live in the attitude of gratitude
