I am curious to what others wear when they perform wedding ceremonies. Would it be wrong for me to wear a white or black robe with a stole? I don't want to be flashy, yet I want others to recognize me as the officiant. Any help would be appreciated.

It depends on the wedding. I usually go with a suit and colored tee-shirt. I have not worn a tie in years. The last wedding I performed was on a ranch so jeans and cowboy boots were in order. As long as you and the groom and bride are comfortable.

I ordered a "graduation" robe from the company that comes to the school district where I teach and I thought about making my own stoles. That way I can make one to coordinate with the colors of the weddings I perform. Of course, this would only be if the bride and groom approve it.
