Mary Magdalene, A female figure in the bible associated with Christ, along with Joanna, Susanna and several others. It is said that the Women provided for them ( the 12) out of their means...I would think that to mean wealth or property. Anyway, Mary Magdalene was supposed to have been driven out of her seven demons right? Well opinion of several Theologians state that that could very well mean affirmities. She was supposed to have been a Prostitute, right? Well a multitude of Theologians dispell the Prostitute theory.
In artists renderings of Simon the Pharisee dinner in which it depicts Mary Magdalene washing Christs feet with ointment from the alabaster jar, However could this not have been Joanna or perhaps Susanna? In the book of St. Luke it mentions Mary Magdalene by name, yet in the book of St. Mark it does not, only stating that a Woman with an alabaster jar anointed Christs feet with ointment, That could mean any Woman.
Da Vinci painted the " Last Supper" ca. 1494 shows what is supposed to be the 12 seated with Christ at the table, however in this rendition as well as many others, the figure directly seated to the right of Christ bears the resemblance of a Woman. As does the figure standing to Christs left. Do we know for a fact that all 12 were indeed at the feast? Perhaps Thomas had doubts even before Christs death and didn't show.
Mary Magdalene became the first Apostle of Christ, was present at His Crucifixion and subsequent death, Was the first to visit His tomb to find 2 angels sitting on His resting place only to turn around and see Him. So it would be a safe assumption that she was present at the ascension along with Mary Mother of Christ.
Mary Magdalene is one of the mysteries of the bible which I have questions. I know what I have been taught, I know what I have read. Yet there is something about the relationship between Jesus Christ and Mary Magdalene that doesn't sit right with me. I guess it would revolve around Christ being the Son of Man. He was born Human to Mary and Joseph, He was raised a Human and He died a Human. Therefore I submit this; Being Human for 30+ years according to the Bible and living as one, could it not logically be assumed that He did as a Human Man take a Wife? If I as a Human were to die and I will, Would not my Wife be the first to see my body after death? Would she not have been at my side up to that point?
Let's say for a moment that it were to come to light, that in fact Mary Magdalene were in fact the Wife of Christ. For Conversation sake what do you think would happen to the Catholic Church? What would happen to Christianity in general?
It is said that the Gnostic testament of Mary Magdalene was found, only to find that there were at least 7 chapters missing, some of which were at the very beginning of the Papyrus. Could these missing leafs indeed prove just that?
