Turning Point

  • Have you met your turning point?
In reflecting on my first clear turning point, I find that I have subsequently encountered many more such points since then—but reliably—at ever increasing summits. There have even been times when I've had to double back for a moment—though still—with ever more distance and fortitude between today and the day that I met my first turning point. Sometimes, I've even been stopped cold in my tracks. On such occasions, if I welcome the opportunity for pause, I can find myself using this time to recommit to staying on my journey. Sometimes I've taken the longer or more treacherous—but always necessary—way. It seems that as long as there are choices in front of me, I will continue to move forward while seeking to walk the bend that promises new heights, fresh insights and continued growth.
The logic of this mental monologue may seem to hint at the question, "What will happen when I arrive?" This linear supposition is—in fact—contrary to the very concept of a turning point. The journey that begins at a turning point is always cyclical. There is no end, no destination. There are only uncharted courses and landmarks yet unseen. With this understanding I carry on—with eyes wide open—to the next great turning point!
