I AM MY BROTHER'S KEEPER

  • Few and far between are those who can articulate their principles in such a way as to spark a light in the mind, and a flame in the spirit of others.

But, to not try...to see so much pain all around and not even try to change it is very wrong. If you are not part of the solution, you are, without doubt, part of the problem.

To withdraw into my own comfort and pretend I am not my brother's keeper is, at the very least, shortsighted.

If I do not help to feed my neighbor, he may one day grow hungry enough to hit me on the head and take my family's food.

And if I take away his self-respect when I do share with him, he may one day name me the source of his pain, and hit me on the head and take my family's belongings.

If I forbid him his space,
If I punish him harshly for not fitting the mold,
If I am intolerant of his right to be and try to destroy him for his differences,
he will feel I am the enemy and may hit me or my family on the head and take our life.

So, even if I didn't believe in a spirit of Love, which I definitely do, I would still consider myself my brother's keeper.

This is my effort to awaken you to the need for change;  to address the most urgent reason for change; and to offer alternatives.

I urge all of you to look into your motives, your sources of information, your visions of the future, and your reasons for not getting involved.

And try to understand, it must be Peace for all or it is peace for no one........

    Looking Forward, GrandmaKay Lee

"There is more beauty in truth, even if it is a dreadful beauty. The storytellers at the city gate twist life so that it looks sweet to the lazy and the stupid and the weak, and this only strengthens their infirmities and teaches nothing, cures nothing, nor does it let the heart soar."

    John Steinbeck, East of Eden
