WEDDING OFFICIANTS - Do you require that your couples complete pre-marital counseling before you preform their wedding? I do. Pre-marriage counseling isn't intended to be a screening process to determine whether your couples are a good match. They've already made the decision to marry. Premarital counseling is designed to help them identify their strengths as a couple, improve the communication skills they already have, and develop new skills that will allow them to build a healthy and happy marriage. When you consider that nearly half of all marriages end in divorce, it isn’t surprising that many states now require some level of pre-marriage counseling before issuing a marriage license. Additionally, many ministers also request (if not require) pre-marital counseling sessions before performing a marriage ceremony. I'm not a trained counselor, but, I have included a link on my web site to an online Online Marriage Preparation Course that meets state requirements. Check out my wedding page and click on the Pre-Marriage Counseling tab to see what I've done. http://weddings.owfish.com/
