I've had a spiritual draw most all my life, but finding the niche has always been a challenge. As a 25 yr Air Force vet, I am strongly involved with the American Legion. I also belong to the American Legion Riders. This year I became the Chaplain with the riders. That set the ball rolling. About 5 weeks ago, our 15 y.o. Godson was shot in the back of the head while out cruising with some friends. His dad, our friend, knew I was the Chaplain and asked my to Baptize him prior to his pasiing. I did and requested ordination the following day. I've thought about doing this off and on over the years, but was waiting until I had a reason or purpose for doing this. That time had arrived and I knew in my heart that it had.
It would seem God has decided to put me to work. I've been approached to do the invocation for a Memorial Day Ceremony and on July 4th, will be officiating our youngest son's wedding. There have been a few other things that have also resulted from this. I told my wife and my sister (who thought it was a bit of a sham) that I take this very seriously. God calls His people into service through many faiths and from many paths I believe this to be true. This was part of my attraction to the ULC. I'm a firm believe that anyone who hates based on faith is missing the mark. I may not ever take this far, but I do take it seriously and I can honestly state that ordination has been a life changing experience. Thank you Father for giving some tasks for me to do for You....
