The christian 10 commandments are being removed from public land in Oklahoma. I very much support the removal of this monument, but I have to wonder why it was ever there in the first place. Now, before people start freaking out, please understand that in an effort to make this situation fair for all, several other groups tried in vain to have their views on public display. The majority would have none of this "fairness" nonsense. My biggest complaint about the 10 is the 1st. "thou shalt have no gods before me". If it advocates that all other view must come second, it also puts anyone holding a view conflicting with this statement in a second class citizens position. If we all pay the same taxes, we need to be seen as equal in the eyes of the state.
For this reason I will be on the look out for an attorney to challenge the monument in my county. If we are to coexist, I don't think we should be OK with the majority monopolising a public forum to push their views to the detriment of all others. I don't look forward to the battle ahead, but I do know I would also disagree if it was my side that was using the government to sell our side's version of the universe. The majority if more than welcome to hold views I don't agree with, but not if they are the only one's allowed to use public land or property in this way.
