We are NOT A good Christian Nation

  •           For those who actually work to help the poor, forgive me for this rant, but this has been building a long time now and it's about damn time I get it out as it's been eating away at me.

A lot of people say we're a "Good Christian Nation". A lot of people often say "I follow the teachings of Jesus." You know what? BULLSHIT. Total, 100%, bullshit. You know what your Jesus taught you? He taught you to FEED the hungry and HELP the poor. He taught you that you should shelter the homeless and be kind to both the land around you and to your fellow man.

You know what many, especially the ultra wealthy have done? Completely PERVERTED those teachings. Saying that you're doing
"Jesus's work" when you bash homosexuals. When you scream at the homeless to get off your streets, you claim that God doesn't want them there. When you give epithets to anyone who's different, is that what your Jesus would do? HELL NO!. No, that is what YOU want to do! That is the darkness in your heart telling your fellow man to go piss off when they come in their hour of need for HELP.

Now, I know this rant is gonna get comments like "Well why aren't YOU helping anyone??" Well dammit, I have! I've taken in two homeless families PLUS their children and helped both to get to their feet again. They now have their own homes and lives ahead of them. Why did I do this? Because I care about people. Why can't I do more? Because I'm financially strapped.

But these damn churches, especially the BIG ones. Poor people come for help and they're all but spat at! I know one that charges people who are homeless, with no income at the moment, $75.00 a week to stay at their shelter. I mean dammit, REALLY? Talk about exploiting a person's hour of need for your own gain! And before you point out there ARE shelters. Sure, specialized ones. Ones only if you're a drug addict. Or only if you're a person who's been beaten / abused. Or only if you're a young male / female under 18, etc. But what about an average man or woman, a grown adult, with no children and not a domestic abuse case? A person who isn't a drug addict who just ended up homeless due to bad luck? People in THIS kind of circumstance, the rest of society ignores. They "fall through the cracks". And dammit, there are FAR too many "cracks" in this country.

If these churches claimed to be doing "God's Work" then why do they NOT allow people to at least sleep inside at night to get out of the  weather? Why are they NOT using some of the BILLIONS these churches, esp. the mega-churches, to create places where everyone are welcome? Helping fill in those cracks??

Everyone, esp. the ultra-wealthy, keep saying this is a Good Christian Nation and that they are doing "God's work". You keep saying that but frankly, coming from lips like that it's just bullshit. You want to say you believe? Then PROVE IT. Actually HELP people, dammit. Don't just give lip service. And the worst part of it is... I'm not even Christian, I'm PAGAN and I can see this behavior for what it is.... We're a nation.... of HYPOCRITES. We are taught and teach to revile the poor, to hate those who are different, to put our wealth and things above the welfare of our citizenry and the health of our nation.

Alright, I'll get off my soap box now. I'm just sad it takes a Pagan like me to see what "Good Christians" refuse to even acknowledge.

Mystic Angel I saw, but maybe it changed him somehow. Maybe he will be more tolerant of Mediums and be able to us as we see their loved one, as human beings. My humbeling moment was looking past what I saw and looking deeper within the other person. Looking beyond the...  more

Rev HeidiAnne leon I agree with you completely on this. I believe if Jesus was here today, he would be very angry and sad. Too many people in my opinion who say that they worship God are the ones that really worship the currency that has God on it instead. Blessings and hugs.

Mystic Angel Have you tried the Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity or Salvation Army? You can also apply for low income housing. I agree, most churches don't help unless you are a part of the "inner crowd" of the church. I think one of the best organizations I ...  more

Bridget Kielas-Fecyk Btw, I have helped many people who are homeless. That is why I'm financially strapped. I let them move in with me, a little at a time as I've the space, and I help them find a place to live, a job, and help them get their life together. Sure it's hard,...  more
