“We have courage in God’s presence, because we are sure that he hears us if we ask him for anything that is according to his will.” (1 John 5:14 GNT)
The miracle of prayer is one of the great miracles of the Bible. To think that there is a God who created the heavens and the earth yet hears our cry, hears our prayer, and condescends to intervene in our lives, would seem to be improbable, if not impossible. You would think that God would be too busy, or that God would be too remote, or that God would be too great, or that God would be too holy. And even if we could get past all that and believe that God would want to be available to his creation, there’s also the dilemma that we are so faulty and frail. We so easily fail him, fail ourselves, and fail others. Yet with all of this baggage, we have the privilege and promise from Scripture that Almighty God is waiting to hear what you and I would pour out of our hearts today. Thank God that Jesus came to this earth to die on the cross for our sins and to reconcile us back to the Father. The dividing wall of sin has been taken down, and weak human beings who have put their trust in Jesus now have access to the holy of holies, to the presence of the living God! On top of that, we don’t have to beg him for the privilege of coming to his presence; instead, we are invited do so in his holy Word! Let’s avail ourselves of the precious opportunity to come before his throne of grace today!
