Hebrews 12:22-24
But you have come to Mount Zion, the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to myriads of angels, to the assembly and congregation of the firstborn, who are enrolled in heaven, and to God, the judge of all, and to the spirits of the righteous, who have been made perfect, and to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks of something better than Abel’s does.
Angels are in joyful assembly because of each person who comes to faith in Jesus Christ. This verse forces me to remember that it is no ordinary God who has come to my rescue and saved me from sin and death. A merciful, loving, Just, sovereign, all-powerful God has captured me from death, and made it possible for me to experience true life: life found in Jesus. This is a God that, unlike any other, sent His Son as a sacrifice for my sins so that He might reconcile me to Himself. This invitation was made to all people everywhere, regardless of station, status, or any amount of wrongdoing. It is only the blood of Christ that washes away our sin, and there is nothing quite like the freedom we are gifted in a relationship with Him.
