2 Timothy 2:11-13
This saying is trustworthy: If we died with him, we will also live with him. If we endure, we will also reign with him. If we deny him, he will also deny us. If we are unfaithful, he remains faithful, since he cannot deny himself.
Through Christ we are restored to life. Ephesians 2: 4-5 says, “But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved.” Without Christ we are dead because death is the wage of sin. We need Jesus to be justified before God, only He atoned for our sin. Sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit, we are able to live in faith, speaking the truth in love. God’s faithfulness to us is not dictated by our level of faithfulness to Him. Our imperfect faith is met by His grace, and we are strengthened in our weakness. 2 Cor. 12:9 says, “But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.
