Sgt. Pepper and Biblical Prophecy
Monday, September 3, 2018
In 1967, the Vietnam War was in full swing. In June of that year, the Beatles released their album Sgt. Pepper. It was into that world of flower power, anti-war protests, the summer of love, glow-in-the-dark posters, and riots that a prophecy spoken thousands of years before was fulfilled. The Jewish people in the Six Day War returned to the City of Jerusalem. It was the missing puzzle piece of every latter-day prophecy which required the Jewish people to be in that city. For Jerusalem is the city of prophecy and the Jewish people are the people of prophecy. So while the world was going along its course with all its distractions and Sonny and Cher singing ‘The Beat Goes On,’ God fulfilled His ancient prophecy. If God could work through every event of 1967, to weave it all together to fulfill His ancient prophecy, how much more so can He work all things in your life together for good and for His good purpose? So rejoice in the Lord who says: “I know the plans I have for you, plans for shalom, not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.”
From Message #701 - Yerushalayim: the Mystery
Scripture: Habakkuk 2:3
