Some people teach that God gave His life on Golgotha because our lives were so precious. But the truth is - He gave His life for us – not because we were worth it – but to make us worth it. In ancient times they would use a balance or scale to determine worth and value. On one side of the scale, they would place a weight. On the other, they would place the object being purchased – for example, grain. They would then keep adding grain until the weight of the grain matched that of the weight on the other side. God gave His life as the weight on the other side of the scale – so the weight of His life would be added to yours. It means that now there’s a new weight given to your life, a new worth, a new value, a new preciousness. And it has nothing to do with what you’ve done – it’s about His life and worth. Live your life now, in the worth, the righteousness, the glory, and the weight of His life. For Messiah is now the value and the weight of your life.
