But when He again brings the firstborn into the world,
He says: "Let all the angels of God worship Him."
Jesus was the Firstborn child of Mary; she had no children before Him. She was a virgin when Jesus was conceived in her of the Holy Spirit. She had not known a man (Luke 1:34). It was the Father’s plan for Jesus to be her Firstborn. Because of Mary and Joseph's care, “the Child grew and became strong in spirit, filled with wisdom; and the grace of God was upon Him” (Luke 2:40). Jesus was the God-Man, perfect to be your Savior.
Lord Jesus, I praise You for Your birth and Your growth to full manhood. Just as the angels in Heaven worship You as the God-Man, so do I.
Jesus was also the Firstborn of every creature (Colossians 1:15), which means He gave life to everything in the world. Jesus is “the beginning of the creation of God” (Revelation 3:14). Not only was Jesus the source of physical life, but He is also “the firstborn from the dead” (Colossians 1:18), the first one to rise from the dead and to never again die. Now Jesus is the source of all your spiritual life. Because you’re in Him, you have resurrection life (Galatians 2:20). Because Jesus is the Firstborn, He gives you a hope of future Heaven.
Lord, thank You for being the Firstborn of the virgin Mary—to live and die on the cross for me. Thank You for being the Firstborn from the dead—to give me resurrection life. Thank You for the hopes of future resurrection and Heaven. Amen.
