Jesus: He Who Comes Down from Heaven
For the bread of God is He who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world. John 6:33
Jesus is He Who Comes Down from Heaven; He is the only Person to ever have preexistence. He lived in Heaven before He was born. Jesus said “I came forth from the Father and have come into the world. Again, I leave the world and go to the Father” (John 16:28).
What does that mean to us? Because Jesus came from Heaven—the eternal City—He can give us heavenly life, eternal life. In addition, Jesus knows all about Heaven, because He lived there, so He can tell us how we will live in our future home. Also, Jesus lived with the Father, so He can tell us about going to live with the Father. Because Jesus came from Heaven, He can give us a little bit of Heaven on Earth. He promised that He and the Father would come to live in those of us who love Him and obey Him
Lord Jesus, I worship You, the eternal One. You live from eternity past to eternity future. I thank You for coming to Earth to show us the Father, and to die for our sins.
Jesus is He Who Comes Down from Heaven to tell us there’s life and glory beyond the grave. If Jesus had not come, we’d live and die like the animals. We’d be without hope for this life and without hope of life after death.
Lord Jesus, thank You for giving me reason to live, and thank You for hope in the next life. Thank You for living in my life and giving me a little taste of Heaven on Earth. Amen.
Jesus came from Heaven to give us the assurance of going to Heaven.
