When I was ministering in Cuba, we were taken to a church in the middle of nowhere. We drove miles on a dirt road. When we got there, there was nothing but a little church building in the middle of a farm. Then, we heard singing, and in the distance was a grain car filled with a congregation singing and clapping their hands to the Lord. Soon the church was overflowing with people. In America, believers will persevere through a movie, a show, a baseball, football game, or restaurant. But a few drops of rain and forget the worship service. Churches in Cuba are overflowing and filled with God's joy and power. Why? Because they don't spend hours in front of the television or in other pursuits. They make God their chief joy, and because they'll pack into a grain car to worship. You want the joy and power of the Spirit in your life? Then put away the distractions that take your heart away from your first love. Make the Lord your chief joy, the things of God your priority, and if you can... get into a grain car.
