yet the LORD thinks upon me.
You are my help and my deliverer;
There were many deliverers in the history of God’s people: Noah delivered the human race from a judgmental flood; Moses delivered Israel from Egypt; Deborah delivered God’s people from the Canaanites; Gideon, from the Midianites; and David, from the Philistines. But each time a human leader delivered them, God’s people eventually drifted back into sin. The greatest Deliverer is Jesus. His past death delivered us from sin’s penalty; He “forgives all your iniquities” (Psalm 103:3). His present indwelling delivers us from the power of sin; “Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the perilous pestilence” (Psalm 91:3). His future coming will deliver you from the presence of sin; He “delivers us from the wrath to come” (1 Thessalonians 1:10).
Lord Jesus, I praise You for delivering Your people in the past. But most of all, I praise You for delivering me.
Jesus is your Deliverer. He saved you; He has “delivered us from so great a death” (2 Corinthians 1:10). You can have victory over addiction and habits; “He has delivered us from the power of darkness” (Colossians 1:13). He delivers from persecution (2 Timothy 3:11). And in the final day, He will deliver you to Heaven; “Jesus . . . delivers us from the wrath to come” (1 Thessalonians 1:10).
Lord Jesus, I praise You because You saved me when I was in sin. You brought me close when I was far away, and You delivered me when I was in trouble. Amen.
Jesus will deliver you in many ways.
