And to the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write, "These things says the Amen,
the Faithful and True Witness,
the Beginning of the creation of God."
Jesus is the Amen, the final word on everything that is done by God. The Amen told the Laodiceans, “I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. So then, because you are lukewarm . . . I will vomit you out of My mouth” (Revelation 3:15-16). Compromise seems so innocent and so easy; all one has to do is do nothing. These Laodiceans were doing nothing good and nothing bad. Jesus told the Laodicean church—the compromising church—that He had the final word on their wayward life. They thought they were rich, but they didn’t know that they were “wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked” (Revelation 3:17).
Lord, it’s so easy to compromise. All I have to do is please myself, but I don’t want to be a compromising Christian. Forgive my lukewarm heart; I don’t want to be rejected by You.
Jesus is the Amen, the final word for your Christian life and success. “I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire” (Revelation 3:18). Jesus wants nothing but the best for you. However, the best is costly. The price is still total commitment to Him. “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me” (Luke 9:23). Are you willing to give Him all?
Lord, I will do what You want me to do; I will go where You want me to go; I will be what You want me to be. I will pay the price. Amen.
