Coffee Time with Jesus

  • Jesus: I Am He Who Lives
    I am He who lives,
    and was dead,
and behold, I am alive forevermore.
    Amen.
    Revelation 1:18

Jesus said, “I am He who lives” (Revelation 1:18), for in His death and resurrection He overcame sin and death. Even though you are a sinner (Romans 3:23) and you will die, you can overcome sin and death when you live in Jesus. After Jesus went to the grave, He testified, “I am He who . . . was dead” (Revelation 1:18). Jesus died for your sin that you might not die. Now Jesus testifies, “I am alive forevermore” (Revelation 1:18). When you live in Christ, you too will live forevermore. Jesus breathes eternal life into the souls of those who trust Him for salvation. They will live as long as He lives. That will be forever, because He says, “I am alive forevermore” (Revelation 1:18).

Lord, I know You are alive forevermore, but I have a difficult time thinking about eternal life. I am a captive in this physical body, and all I can think about is the here and now. Help me understand my life. Help me find satisfaction and meaning in this world.

Not only does Jesus give duration of life—eternal life—but He also gives abundant life (John 10:10). He can give you joy, fulfillment and fruitfulness. He can use you in His service, and your life can make a difference in the world. You can be happy and satisfied when you let Jesus, the great "I Am He Who Lives,” (Revelation 1:18) live His life through you. But you must ask for it and claim it.

Lord, I will yield my life to You. Fill me today with Your presence. Give me life—abundant life—to live for You. Amen.
