The Holy Spirit: The Promise
You shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
For the promise is to you and to your children,
and to all who are afar off,
as many as the Lord our God will call.
Peter, on the Day of Pentecost, promised that the Holy Spirit would come on those who believed in Christ. The fulfillment of that promise was the coming of the Holy Spirit on his listeners, just as the Holy Spirit came on the disciples in the Upper Room (Acts 2:1-4). Peter promised that the Holy Spirit would come to do the work of the Father and Son in the lives of all Christians (Acts 2:38-39). He has come into the world; and when you believed, He came into your heart (John 15:26). Will you let the Holy Spirit work in your life today?
Holy Spirit, I have many spiritual needs. I yield my life to you; please meet my needs. Fill me today; I need Your presence in my life (Ephesians 5:18).
The Holy Spirit is the Fulfillment of the promises made by the Father and Son. He has regenerated you (John 3:5); He has given you eternal life (John 3:36); He has given you a new nature (2 Peter 1:4); and He has guaranteed your home in Heaven (Ephesians 4:30). Look at what the Holy Spirit can do in the future. He can give you peace (John 14:27), Christian character (Galatians 5:22-23), guidance (Galatians 5:25) and spiritual gifts (1 Corinthians 12:7,11). These promises have been made to you; now you must claim them and act on them.
Holy Spirit, please forgive my forgetful memory. I have forgotten the things You can do for me. Help me remember everything that You can do for me. Please help me claim them all. Amen.
The Holy Spirit is the fulfillment of the promises made by Jesus.
