"I am the way, the truth, and the life.
No one comes to the Father except through Me."
Jesus is the Truth; He cannot lie. He will always tell you what is right; He will not deceive you. When you read His Word, it will always give you an accurate record of the past, and it will give you an honest description of what people are like today. When the Word of God predicts the future, its predictions will come about. Jesus said God’s Word “is truth” (John 17:17). Whether you are referring to the words Jesus spoke on the earth or His words written in Scripture, both are true. Because He is the Truth, He wants you to be truthful.
Lord, it’s hard to be truthful, because I have a deceitful heart that always wants to put me in the best light. Forgive my sins and help me always to tell the truth.
Truth never contradicts itself; it is always consistent. What Jesus said on Earth was always true. Jesus’ words were consistent with the rest of Scripture, and the Scripture is consistent within itself. The Scripture cannot deny itself (John 10:35). Because the Bible is consistent, you can trust its message. Because Jesus is the Truth, you can believe in Him.
Lord, I believe that everything You’ve said in the Bible is true. I will base my life on the Scriptures, because I believe they work. I will read the Scripture, because I believe it is consistent. The more I know about the Bible, the more I realize that it’s consistently true in itself and that its influence is true in my experiences. Amen.
The words of Jesus are true.
