Jesus: The Testimony of God
And I, brethren, when I came to you,
excellence of speech or of wisdom
declaring to you the testimony of God.
For I determined not to know
Jesus is the Testimony of God to the world. Do not look for deep truths elsewhere; Jesus is the Personification of truth. Do not look for mysterious wisdom; Jesus is the Wisdom of God. Do not look for sparkling speeches or cleverly written words; Jesus is the Testimony of God. You’ll not find anything deeper in understanding than Christ, nor will you find anything simpler to understand than Jesus. Everything that God wants you to know, you’ll find in Jesus.
Jesus, I learn of You in the pages of Scripture. There is no grace greater than Your grace; there is no love greater than Your love. You walked humbly among us to show us what God was like; now I bow at Your feet to exalt You in my life.
Jesus is the Testimony that God would have you know. Do not search for deep wisdom apart from Him. Do not seek to understand spiritual things that are complicated or confusing apart from Him. If you think you’ve found truth but Jesus is not there, you are lost in the jungle of error. God has testified what you need to know. You’ll find the answers to your questions in Jesus, for He is the Testimony of God.
When I look into the crystal waters of a pond, I see the calm surface of a pool. Yet the water beneath the surface is deep, so deep that I’ll never reach the bottom. Jesus is like that pond. He is easy to understand, yet so deep that I’ll never completely comprehend all He is and does. Amen.
