The Holy Spirit: The Gift of God
If you knew the gift of God,
and who it is who says to you,
‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him,
and He would have given you living water.
The Holy Spirit is the Gift of God. He is the One who gave eternal life to you at salvation. He is called the Gift because salvation is a gift (Ephesians 2:8-9). You cannot work for anything that He gives; you must receive the gifts freely from Him. When you let the Holy Spirit control your life, you have peace, wisdom, understanding, courage and a sound mind.
Holy Spirit, I receive You into my life. I take the gifts You offer to me. Come into my life to empower the gifts You’ve given me. Show me how to use the abilities I have.
The Holy Spirit is called the Gift of God, because He will give you spiritual gifts, or abilities, for your Christian service. He gives the spiritual gifts of evangelism, prophecy, teaching, exhorting, administering, serving, shepherding, giving, mercy-showing and many other spiritual gifts. The Holy Spirit also gives you the enabling gifts of faith, discernment, wisdom and knowledge. Every good gift comes from the Father (James 1:17) and is delivered to believers by the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 12:11). Do you know what your spiritual gifts are? Do you know how to use them? Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal your spiritual gifts to you, then ask Him to help you to use them in to bless others and to bring glory to God.
Holy Spirit, I ask You to show me my spiritual gifts. Show me how to use them properly. Give me power to use them. Amen.
