There is a term in our Bible known as "good hate." For instance, in Psalms, "I will set no evil thing in front of my eyes. I hate the work of those who turn aside" and "I hate every false way." Proverbs speaks about hate, "The fear of the Lord is to hate evil, pride and arrogance." We have to love people, but to hate sin and hate evil. Hate sin in your own life, so much that we will also set no evil thing in front of our eyes. We need to hate that sin of adultery, gossip, self-pride and selfishness so much that you fight it with all your strength. We must hate the evil way. There is a holy hatred, not of flesh and blood, but of evil. It's a good thing to have a beautiful hate for sin. It is part of the Psalms and Psalms are beautiful. The hatred of sin starts with us in our own life. When you sing Psalms of praise, it is as worship to God as when you set your heart to become a much more loving person by hating your own sin.
From Message #1027 - The Amalek Mystery
Love the sinner but hate the sin - and apply this to yourself. Give no room for temptations of selfishness or fleshly desires but maintain a spirit of holiness.
