(First Vespers of tomorrow, 7th Sunday of Easter)
INTRODUCTION
O God, come to our aid.
O Lord, make haste to help us.
Glory be to the Father and to the Son
and to the Holy Spirit,
as it was in the beginning,
is now, and ever shall be,
world without end.

Come, Holy Ghost, Creator, come

Praise of the Lord's name

Thanksgiving in the Temple
You have loosened my bonds, Lord: a sacrifice of praise I will make to you, alleluia.

for all he has done for me?
I will take up the cup of salvation
and call on the name of the Lord.

Philippians 2
Christ, God's servant
The Son of God learned to obey through suffering, and he became the source of eternal salvation for all those who obey him. Alleluia.
Jesus Christ, although he shared God’s nature,
did not try to cling to his equality with God;
but emptied himself, took on the form of a slave,
and became like a man:
not in appearance only,
for he humbled himself by accepting death,
even death on a cross.
For this, God has raised him high,
and given him the name that is above every name,
so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bend,
in heaven, on earth, and under the earth,
and every tongue will proclaim
“Jesus Christ is Lord,”
to the glory of God the Father.

Prayers and intercessions
Blessed be Christ, the Son of God. At the Jordan the Holy Spirit descended on him in the form of a dove. Let us confirm our prayer to him by saying:

Lord Jesus, send forth your Holy Spirit to renew the life of the Church
and make her radiant with hope.

May all the nations praise you as their king and Lord;
make Israel the people whom you call your own.

Make us generous, make us humble;
let us forget our own needs in the service of others.

At Pentecost you reversed the disaster of Babel, which divided and confused the family of man;
through your Holy Spirit let all men speak the same language of faith and love.

May your Holy Spirit dwell within us
to give life to our mortal bodies.
